2012 Topps Heritage…

Topps dropped a preview of this coming years Heritage.
Not too bad.

Preview images of Heritage sets are kinda funny. I mean we know what the design is gonna look like.

1963 is an OK set. 1962 is a tough act to follow; it is such a nice design. I am not the biggest fan of the little black and white circular photo; itโ€™s too much of a contrast from the crisp modern photo. On the actual 1963 set it wasn’t as stark a contrast. This is just a preview so it may not be as big a deal on the actual cards.

I am excited for the next few years of Heritage. The mid ’60s has some of my favorite classic card designs. I am really looking forward to the 2024 when we get the 1975 design.

  1. As much as I liked the 62 design, I’m happy that Heritage will have a more colorful inspiration next year. I just wish they’d tweak it a bit and give us color photos in the little circle – it’s not like they’re staying with tradition enough to give us posed photos for every card in the set. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. It’s funny how we think about these old sets. I got started in baseball cards by looking at my dad’s collection when I was a kid. Almost all of his cards were from ’62, ’63 and ’64, so they hold a bit of a special place in my heart. That said, I actually never liked ’62–the wood grain really doesn’t do it for me, but I LOVE ’63. Something about the colors and the circle inset, I’ve always just really, really liked it.

With that in mind, I’m looking forward to the ’63 set more than any other Heritage set since I re-started collecting in 2007. Looks great.
