Who doesn’t love a catcher that isn’t afraid to swing for the fences from time to time? When Mike Napoli came up with the Angels a few years ago I thought he looked like a guy that had some potential. I went out and picked up one of his autos for the catcher collection.
I was a fan of the old landscape jersey/auto in Bowman Sterling. I got this guy for around a buck on ebay.
Mike had some good days in LA, his numbers improving over the years. This season in Texas he was a monster. 30 homers, 320 average, 75 RBIs, 631 Slg, and 1.046 OPS. Pretty flippin’ good. He has also been swinging the stick pretty well in the post season, hitting around 320 with 5 RBIs and scoring 7 runs.
If he gets solid time behind the plate next season he could be a contender as the AL starting catcher at the All Star game (hopefully he gets beat out by Mauer after a massive comeback).
