Giving it their all…

Yesterday was Memorial Day. A day to remember those that have given their lives for us.

I want to draw attention to two men that stood up between our families and those that wish us harm.

Steve Reich was a West Point grad and a promising young pitcher. After his time playing for Team USA he chose military service over the pros.

He was an officer with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, rising to the rank of Major. The 160th SOAR is a special aviation regiment of highly skilled soldiers that support special operations. They do much of their work at night and have the nickname the Nightstalkers.

Steve Reich was killed with several other soldiers when the chinook was hit by an RPG in Afghanistan. He was 34 years old.

The other fallen soldier I would like people to remember is a man named Nick Roush. Cpl Roush served in Afghanistan with Sgt. Jason Montesanto. Jason is the husband of one of my friends. She posted pictures of the two of them during their deployment on her Facebook all the time. I was shocked to hear one day in 2009 that Nick Roush had been killed in the line of duty.

She wrote about it here,

He was just 22 years old.

These are but two of the far too many young men and women that have died to keep us free from harm.

Remember that Memorial Day is more than just a day off.
